Miya Hannan
One or Millions?
silkscreen, dye, fabric, starch, bandage casting
2006
This is a recent graduate from San Fransisco Art Institute who's work is frighteningly and wonderfully similar to my own. The way she makes the fabric allude to organs really inspires me. The wrinkled turns remind me of the sheep intestine I was working with not far back, and has given me some new ideas for upcoming projects.

"Italy museum defies pope over crucified frog"

Artist Martin Kippenberger died over a decade ago yet his artwork continues to be controversial and contemporary.

Long story short, the catholic church wanted (and lobbied for) the removal of this art piece from an Italian museum because it is "offensive to religion and the pope." However, the museum defended its importance and refused to remove the work. Art FTW!
