The next generation of weed farmers beware

Today, with mouth gaping, I watched a short video that screamed "Big Brother."

In Denmark, new unmanned robots will be flying around like hounds, literally "sniffing" out cannabis. How, you ask? It senses the high temperatures radiating from the specialized lamps required for indoor farming AND it reacts to that perpetrating odor that only cannabis (and skunks) create. Putting my own opinions about weed consumption aside, this machine is freaking- ass scary. It looks like it might shoot me, although the reporters say it will only notify police. This machine looks like it's from another planet--- which, in other words, means it looks like Hollywood. But it's real. Will the United States adopt the technology?

I do find the story about the cop HILARIOUS!!!!

I am Yours to Keep

I attended the reception for a show entitled 'I am Yours to Keep,' presented by Kimberly Myers. Impressed with the work, I began to write comments in her guest book. My face turned red when someone commented on my handwriting skills. I lost track of my thoughts. I am quite sure my cheeks were noticeable even though I was bathed in yellow lantern light at the time. The pause reminded me that even though I will be moving away from my foundation and family, I can look forward to sharing stories with them through various and a sundry modes of communication. Maybe I'll bring back hand-written letters.

An Evening with Carter. Monday, April 6, 2009, 7:00 p.m., MoMA NYC

James Dean is being held captive against his will in an executive's office. Still keeping his cool, he picks up the telephone without a blink or drop of sweat, and dials who we assume detained said rebel. With a deep inhale, he demands some sort of compensation for no other reason other than the fact that he is James Dean.

This isn't what's really happening. That is the story I imagined upon first glance of this still from Carter's Erased James Franco, 2008.

"Recalling the intellectual gamesmanship of Robert Rauschenberg's 1953 drawing Erased de Kooning, from which it derives its title, Erased James Franco is simultaneously a study of the craft of acting and of the fracturing—and reconstitution—of narrative and identity. "
