Classical Chinese Garden, Portland, Oregon

If you have the opportunity, Nana and I both recommend that you spend an afternoon in the Classical Chinese Garden, located in Chinatown, Portland, Oregon.

After a short block and a half we were soaked as we reached the garden's entrance. Immediately we were in awe of the vegetation's natural beauty as well as the painstaking, ornate craftsmanship of the architecture. There was something to be revered in every direction.

At the Tea House we learned about ceremonial style tea, though you can choose from 3 different presentations. The traditional foods were delicious beyond comparison. We didn't realize that we nibbled, chatted, and laughed our way through two and a half hours. Following tea, sake, and snacks, we toured the pavilions and took time to smell the flowers. Truly an unforgettable excursion.

Random thought

I was at work this morning by 6:45 am. That is 1.25 hours earlier than usual. I did great all day... I was energetic, peppy, and happy. It is now 6:30 pm and I am wondering at what time it won't be too lame to go to bed. *sigh

FISHY FISHY

Fisherman's Bend, Santiam River.... apparently the fish are more "educated" south of Big Cliff Dam. We were dodged at this location. Next time fishies, beware!

Breitenbush River was gorgeous. The water was teal and crystal clear. AND COLD!!!

We learned a lot about our new fishing areas that day; at least that is how we salvage the day in our minds because we were skunked! Grrrrrr.......

But it was truly a wonderful, relaxing day after the closing reception.

Preface... the Reception

A BIG THANK YOU to those who were able to make the reception last Friday. It was wonderful to catch up with so many loved ones and describe my process and concept to those who are unfamiliar. It was a successful night on multiple levels, and I'd like a very special thanks to go to Randee for helping me organize and throw this party.
